I'm not quite sure about that, I worked Friday on the North West bar at GBBF (about half Yorkshire beer, I encountered quite a few comments about the geography skills of this years purchaser), and after we'd sold out of Conniston Bluebird and Tim Taylor Landlord, our strongest beer (Tabatha the Knackered from Anglo Dutch at 6.0%) was one of the first of the rest to go. It was priced at 2.80 a pint, I guess the median was 2.60. Notably, I barely sold 2 pints of the one from Tirrel's, which was 3.20 a pint for something at 4.2%.

And we didn't sell out the Yates' that day either...

I was describing the situation at our beer festival, where is is on every year because it is so popular.

Our local 'spoons runs 10 guest beer pumps, and whenever Yates Fever Pitch is on, it goes in around a day or so. This week, it went on at

5 pm on Tues and was finished last night (Wed) at around 7pm. We get it often, 3 x 9 at a time.

Maybe it is a local taste thing, as we were surprised that, although it was in tiptop condition for CBOB, it did not get placed.

But Tirril does not sell well here, either.

I'm pleased hear that the Mad Cat (local nickname) sold out fast. It does funny things to peoples' legs (and behaviour), does that stuff :-)

I would agree with that. At beer festivals I always start with the log alcohol beers, otherwise after a few halves I wouldn't know what week it was. ;-)

I'm afraid that, increasingly, in the "real world", pubs are charging the same for all beers regardless of strength. As I said before, this does no favours at all for low alcohol beers, in particular milds.

Mild is usually sold at a premium price around this way. It's probably one of the reasons why it's disappearing from pubs. The other main reason is that its often just bitter dyed with caramel.
