Birkenhead Beer Festial

Hi,

Anybody any idea of beers available at Birkenhead this weekend?

I'll be there on Friday Evening, one I've never done before.

Cheers,

Andy B. Great Sankey. England.

No idea - but I'm off there tomorrow. The last time I went was about 7 years ago and I ended up very drunk and in Tranmere (don't ask). Older and wiser I shall be slightly more temperate tomorrow :-)

I don't have any exact details of the beerlist, but I spoke to one of the organisers a couple of weeks back - it's going to be largely beers from the North West of England (recent years have seen a Scots/Celtic theme)

I'm working there tonight & drinking tomorrow, cheers MikeMcG.

Cheers Mike you may have served me!

Excellent venue, good range of as you say local north west beers, well worth the visit.

I'll be back next year.

I might well have served you (white brakspear shirt, working on both sides of central bar?)

Glad you enjoyed it, I thought there was some great beers there (Beartown, 3Rivers, Phoenix, Facers, Bazens, Wapping/Baltic Fleet & especially Pictish) & I liked the NW theme, because it's nice to get a chance to try the beers from brewpubs I've not been to; and some of the micros' beers can be very hard to find even in their home region. There were a few duds tho too IMO; a couple had that woody oxidised taste, and one tasted only partly fermented, v odd.

I didn't drink too much last night - still suffering from the effects of sampling while working Friday night (you've got to be able to tell customers what they're like :~) cheers MikeMcG

I totally agree - I sampled quite a number of excellent brews on Thursday and enjoyed the venue and whole atmosphere of the festival tremendously. Had a bit of a headache at work on Friday but what the heck! I wish I could have returned on Friday but it's a bit too far from where I live and the logistics didn't allow it.

I'm glad you like Pictish, Mike - they supply the beer in my "local" and it's fantastic.

Regards,

Gavin
