___________________________________________________________________________ Press release, 28th October 2004: Brysons Brews of Heysham Closes On the 20th October 2004, four years after starting brewing, the last beer was brewed by Brysons. Once current stocks are sold (probably by the end of November) the company will cease to trade. The remaining stocks will be offered to regular customers before any one else. George Palmer, the brewer, says "We are ceasing brewing for personal reasons. Financially the business was beginning to take off at a good rate, but at a cost that we could no longer pay. Caroline and myself found that the business had taken over our lives. To change that, we would have had to expand and spend another two years or so putting even more of ourselves into the business. On top of the pressures of brewing, selling, bookwork, etc., we found the pressures imposed by the regulatory agencies, customers refusing to pay, the negative attitude of the local branch of a certain consumer organisation, and a host of other things made closing seem the most sensible option for our health and sanity. The last four years have been interesting. We have had some real highs, as well as a few lows. At the end of the day, we have made some good friends, and brewed some pretty good beers. If we can say that much, then it's been worth it. Our brewplant and business are now up for sale, should anyone want them. Our thanks to all those who supported us." _____________________________________________________________________________
