football beer namesake

Had yet another beer that I didn't get the name of. I have tried quaffale and beermad but nothing listed on their sites.

The beer was called Czech Mate I think and had an image of the czech checkerboard (part of their flag) on the pumpclip.

I dont beleive it was the Enville one as it has a different pumpclip. Ossett also did a beer by that name but according to beermad no longer. Nethergate stopped makig ti to.

Any help welcome.

Thanks.

Just t be nitpicky for a minute, I think the brewery is confusing flags there. The distinctive red and white checkerboard pattern is a feature of the Croatian flag, not the Czech one:

I've had a quick Google and found that Wadworth do one called Czech Mate.

I think I might have had the Enville one you mention, becasue it's made with Saaz hops, which one tasted, are never forgotten!

Isn't it a chess board and a play on words ??? I presume the Czech is to do with it being a verion of a Czech pils.

Cheers

Mark

Yes the name is be a play on words, but the name was definately czech mate.
