Good pubs near the M1 around the Toddington area

Four of are driving down to Kew from Manchester and need a beer stop or two around the Toddington area. I note that Toddington has two GBG pubs but only the Sow and Pigs seems to open all day. Anyone know any different?



Something south of there where we can easily get back on the M1 would be good.



Any better suggestions welcome North of my suggestion of Toddington also welcome but not too far off the motorway please. Must be open all day and doesn't have to be GBG if someone knows that the beer is good and varied..

Redbourn, Herts (exit 9) has a great pub whose name escapes me right now (in GBG), but it isn't far off the motorway from recollection. Might be a bit close to the final destination, I guess. But I just looked at a map and it ain't far from Toddington either.
