Two festivals in Mirfield this weekend

There are two beer festivals next week at GBG-listed establishments in Mirfield, both of which have immense pride in the quality of their beers while maintaining very moderate prices:-

On Friday and Saturday, 17th-18th September, the Old Colonial Club is holding a fund-raising beer festival to commemmorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, supporting Help for Heroes. Everyone welcome. Up to 20 brewers will be supplying one-off real ales with a Battle of Britain theme. Free snacks.

From Thursday 16th - Sunday 19th September, all day, The Navigation by Mirfield railway station, is holding one of its renowned, regular beer festivals, all beer cellar-cooled. Around 25 pumps will be dispensing fine beers and ciders with attractions for tickers and connoisseurs alike.

Access to the Navi is easy by train as it is next to the station, off Station Road on the North side of the line. The two venues are about a mile apart.

The Old Colonial is served by 202 Arriva bus from Dewsbury and by 205 (Longstaff, not Arriva) bus from Dewsbury and Mirfield which both pass the venue. The 205 runs through the day as follows:- Dewsbury xx50, Flash Lane/Dunbottle Lane xx04, Mirfield xx15 opposite Co-op, Dunbottle Lane xx24, Dewsbury xx38 terminating Mirfield 2012. The 202 runs half hourly from Dewsbury to Huddersfield, hourly from 1931, passing the venue under 15 minutes from Dewsbury. The 221 and 202 cover part of the route between the Navi and the Old Colonial.
