Harvey's

I went to the Market Porter to meet my brother and some other gentlemen yesterday. We all stood outside. Those of us not drinking Guinness were drinking Harvey's of Sussex Best. Inside, heaving with people, I saw that there were about 10 real ales available, but the people at the bar were shouting Harvey's Harvey's Harvey's!

On a Friday they will do!

The MP has 8 guest ale pumps plus 2 Harvey's pumps.

The regular clientèle are local workers, a few local residents, and beer tickers. The market workers tend to go for the lagers.

On full market days [Fridays and Saturdays] many occasional shopping visitors will enter, will peer at the guest ales, not see familiar things like Pride, GK IPA or Courage, see Harvey's which most people have heard of and will go for that.

The daily turnover of Harvey's is phenomenal so it's always in good nick!

Coming from Brighton I was weaned on Harveys. What's not to like?

I love that phrase... And I really liked Harveys. I suppose I should have gone off-the-wall and chosen summit else at some point, but I didn't.

I must here salute the Market Porter at Borough; its staff is amazingly adept. I never waited for more than 3-4 mintes for a drink. And the pub was heaving!

Two pints of Harveys and a pint of Guinness came to £9.65, probably a bit too dear, but since I have saved a river drinking in JDW for a few years I did not mind.

Sorry, should read 9 + 2.

I have been told the MP sells more Harvey than any other Pub, even with a Harvey pub down the road( the Roayl Oak).

That's the way it seemed to me. It was a Harvey-a-go-go bonanza. All other guest beers were shivering at 't back door.

the trouble with the suits is all they now is Harvey's & anything else is out of their comfort zone. I used to work in the North and asked people why they drank john smiths, they usually replied that's all they drank & its reliable , some people don't seem to consider they might might a change of taste occasionally
