Heathrow

After years of leaving through Terminal 3 where there's a TGI Fridays, O'Neils and some tarty joint on the walkway outside security, I noticed that the refurbishment had left something called the Six Bells just down from where the tarty joint used to be. It turned out to actually have 2 handpumps, Adman's Bitter and London Pride. They didn't really know how they were supposed to serve it, but the Adman's I tried was just fine once I'd attempted to give the european staff some clue as to how to hold the glass while dispensing and where it should be filled to. They said they'd had no training to explain these things. 2.80 a pint - frankly I was surprised it was under 3 quid (that's what we often have to deal with around London these days) - so I'm overall quite pleased with the progress. I'd rather the Wetherspoons in Terminal 1, but there we are.

On the subject, Wetherspoons most definitely do train their staff, I had the good fortune to wander by one in the NEC as it was just open for a staff training day last summer, the manager invited us in to run the bar staff through their paces serving drinks and food. All free. Very nice. The beer was a beautiful temperature and I told the manager so, he responded by apologising and saying he hadn't got the chiller set up properly as yet!

Despite this I can't explain why they ignore you as you wait to be served at the bar though.
