Afternoon all,
Hope I'm posting to the right group!
I have just been to germany for the first time this weekend, have drunk many german beers which I found to be excellent and would like recommendations of any good companies that could import some to the UK at a reasonably good price, I don't need vast quantities as it's just for home consumption + Friends. Any help would be most apprecicated!

As Dave Spencer says, there's lots of German beer available in the UK, either by mail-order or from specialist off-licences.

He's selling Bitburger (lowest common denominator as mentioned before), but he's also selling Franziskaner which is pretty reputable IMHO. There was one more German beer but I'm hanged if I can remember what it was so it can't have been that exciting. Probably not, but I can't off-hand think of a better one for this particular question.
Um. Tricky. There's lots of so-so German beer in the supermarkets and up-market bars, but nothing much to really wow you. Or me. I suppose I mean me really. (Sorry, too much British beer tonight. And sickeningly warm too. Not a good night.)
Anyway, I would recommend a visit to a handy neighbourhood beer festival with a decent foreign beer bar, and ask the denizens of said bar for their hints. Better still, trot along to the Great British Beer Festival in London Town next week and seek out the Bieres Sans Frontieres bar there.
Physically importing beer for personal consumption ought to be straightforward, if you use your own transport and can find a supplier in the first place. Getting a third party to import it on your behalf is devilishly awkward. You'ld think the EU would have harmonised German and British alcohol duties by now, but no....
