New pub at Urmston station

Good news everyone! The former booking office on the Liverpool platform of Urmston station has today re-opened as a pub-cafe-bar, to be known as The Steamhouse. Two cask ales are on offer, both from Hyde's: Original (i.e. the standard bitter), and Eager Beaver (i.e. the current seasonal).

Let's just hope that it has a better future than Henrys at Flixton!

Uses like this are excellent as they preserve heritage and put a human presence back on stations - but now and then things do go wrong, as happened just down the line.

Yes the Jubilee Bar at Sowerby Bridge! Apparently there will be one permanent beer (please, oh good Lord, not Taylors!) and three rotating ones.

Was opening in Spring, then early Summer, now...well here's hoping!

For those of you reading this in uk.food+drink.real-ale:
