Greetings.
I just read about oatmeal stout on Wikipedia . Does anyone know where in or around Clapham, London one can obtain a bottle? Sainsbury's doesn't carry it (nor much of any stout, for that matter).
Regards, Tristan

No Sam Smith's pubs in your area or decent offies? You could also look for Young's oatmeal stout. Clapham isn't far from Wandsworth, is it? (been away so long I forgot my London geography)
Luckily, both are available here :-)

However handy the information you've just supplied may be for people in the York area that don't know a decent offie near them, the point is the query was for availability in London therefore a supplier in York isn't much use to someone based down there.
I think the OP was looking for somewhere they could collect from rather than pay shipping charges.
As it happens I believe many prayers about supply of beer through the post are likely to be answered through a familiar web site.
FWIW, I've had some cracking pints of stout in the White Horse (aka the Sloaney Pony due to all the suits from Chelsea drinking there) which is 50 yards from Parsons Green tube station.
Do you still have a personal business interest in this establishment, or are you just promoting an advert for the new owner(s)?

I decide to sell up when my son was born so I have no business interest but I do know the new owners and I also know SW4 very well having lived there for
10 years (MICROBAR is right on the SW4 border with SW11) - I know what a waste land for good beer it is now the Rose & Crown in Clapham old town has changed hands. MICROBAR is an oasis in a desert and that is one of the reasons we put it there. So, no, I'm not "promoting an advert for the new owner(s)" I am responding to the post with the benefit of first hand knowledge.
FWIW, I'ld like to endorse Steve's comments here and add that similar considerations apply at the two best outlets for Belgian beer round Manchester. You can get some sublime triumphs of the brewer's art at Le Trappiste in Altrincham, and some even more obscure and wonderful beers at Belgian Belly in Chorlton. But for heaven's sake, don't make the mistake of working out afterwards how many pints of Joe Holt's Bitter you could have had for the same price as a half bottle of Oud Beersel's Oude Kriek - you'll just ruin a great beer when you cry into it.
Holt's is a different experience - though not altogether, the tale is that their bitter is less bitter than it used to be because they finished off the old shedful of hops and had to buy some new ones. I'm not going to claim that Holt's is the Lancashire Geuze, but both forms of beer seem to share a penchant for old hops and lots of 'em!
I have always found Holts Bitter too bitter for my tastes but found their Mild a lovely drink. It is a few years since my last session in a Holts pub & I seem to remember them selling a nip sized bottle of barley wine or strong ale that made a superb Mild/mixed. I cannot find any reference to the bottle these days. Does anyone remember it?

MICROBAR currently has Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout in stock.
Dunno if it's been said before, but Sam Smiths pubs (obviously).
Youngs also do a bottled Oatmeal Stout - I don't know what prices in London are like, but Horts in Bristol sell 4 for a fiver (still!).

It's not obvious - it's always irritated me that Sam Smiths pubs don't stock more of their own beers. I wish they'd stock India Ale and the Melbourn Bros. but I guess their margins aren't good enough.
They had it (Broughton oatmeal stout) at the Bristol beef festival Saturday (very good it was too !) Not much help for you though ;-))
Cheers - Neil
