Oban to Glasgow

Bit of a long shot, but can anyone recommend any accommodation, inns or small hotels, between Oban and Glasgow? Looking for a nice place in the country to stay for a couple of nights. Good real ale and food important.

Thanks johnnysaint

I've not been up that way for some time now and have never had to stay overnight in that area, but I have enjoyed a good many decent pints in the few hostelries that can be bothered to look after cask ale.

Have you checked the Good Beer Guide? The George Hotel (listed in 2002 Guide, can't find the 2003 Guide just now) might be your best bet for beer, bed and food - .

Thanks for your reply. I did try to book The George, it looks ideal, but they were fully booked on one of the evenings we intended staying.

Ended up at The Village Inn, Arrochar, by Loch Long. It's a Maclay Inn but they did have a couple of real ales on at all times, which were in great condition.....Orkney - Dark Island, Fyne - Maverick and Woodforde's Wherry Best Bitter.

A nice Inn, good food and great beer. I would stay again but probably wouldn't go out of my way.

Once again, thanks for your advice. johnnysaint

Sounds interesting - I'll try and get there myself, next time I'm north of the Border.
