Polypin for home drinking

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good supplier of a polypin of cask-conditioned for home consumption.

We can collect in North London, but time is (unfortunately) running short; IOW we're not in a position to be (too) picky about the brew.

Thanks in anticipation.

Just phoned them - they don't deliver at this time of the year, due to the heat and the risk of exploding containers (which policy I can understand as a principle, current temperature notwithstanding).

Indeed it is. We may well consider some Winter Lightning later on in the year.

Thanks for the link, anyway.

Other suggestions have been quite a way out of London - if you're prepared for a drive you could do worse than a trip up the A1 to

Oakham Ales / The Brewery Tap

80 Westgate Peterborough, PE1 2AN United Kingdom (England) phone: (01733) 358300

They are happy to sell polypins pulled straight from the brewery tap and dashed good it is too!

In the same vein, The Hop Leaf in Reading would be a place to get polypins of Hop Back ales.

It depends how short the time is?

Wickwar sell over the internet and usually will deliver whatever they have in stock in a few days. Harvey's of Sussex do the same.

Well, we were looking to have it in situ for the weekend (relatives staying through next week i/c/w the GBBF).

In the end, we opted for Pitfield, a polypin of Original is now sitting and settling in a cool shady corner.

Thanks for this, and for all the other responses and recommendations - most helpful.

The eventual choice was, as much as anything, down to logistics of collection/delivery as anything else (and I know we left it a bit late).

We may well be paying a visit to some of the others later in the year: after all, current Government advice is to make sure you keep stocked up on essentials in the event of disruption.

Cheers Dave

I've had a quite a few polypins of Pitfield over the years frm the Beer Shop - East Kent Goldings is quite good if you like a pale bitter brew, and I had a pint of organic Eco Warrior the other day at a naerby pub that was very good.

Very good indeed, the Beer Shop as helpful as I'd remembered it (we also picked up a dozen assorted bottles while we were there). Despite the high ambient temperature (a couple of coolpacks and towels over the box on the hottest days managed to drop the temp of the beer to an acceptable level), it settled beautifully and the contents disappeared quite quickly to universal acclaim.

Having tried this once and been successful, I think there will be a trip to Peterborough for some JHB pretty soon...then there's Woodforde, Hopback...
