Reading Beerex this weekend !

Hundreds of real ales, dozens of kinds of cider and perry, country wines, foreign beer in bottles. All the usual sideshows.

Thurs 28th April to Sun 1st May, in a tent on Kings Meadow near Reading Station. Details here:

After today's rain DON'T wear spike heels - last year I saw a woman stuck in mid-stride, unable to pull either heel out of the mud.

Yep, I'm looking forward to it. The current weather forecast suggests it'll be wet until Friday, so it's likely to get very muddy despite the best efforts of the organizers, so I'd also advise people to dress accordingly. It's usually fine inside the tents, but the trip outside to the bogs causes problems :-)

Best regards, Paul

Just staggered back from the festival and I'm pleased to say that it wasn't too muddy and the organisers have ensured there are solid non-slip walkways to the positively palatial lavvies.

The beer's top as well.

Ah, that's just Thursday! The organisers said last year they were going to use matting this year, which should help a lot. However, you still have the problem of the improvised urinals made from plastic sheeting and rain guttering, which you probably didn't need to use on Thursday but which will be a real quagmire on Saturday :-)

I'll be there this afternoon.

Best regards, Paul

Well, I was wrong. The organisers have made a really good job of providing temporary hardstanding everywhere that mud is likely to get churned up, including inside the dreaded urinal.

Another top notch festival, and very busy - there was a long queue waiting to get in when I left on Friday evening. I don't think there'll be a lot left on Sunday :-)

Best regards, Paul

The range was greatly diminished when we left at 6 PM on Saturday, although there was talk of another delivery...

Cheers

Which, unless it was already there when they spoke (or racked) would be undrinkable on Sunday.
