Smoking in pubs

Whilst at Glasgow this weekend, I was appalled at the amount of smoke in pubs we visited - truly appalling, and I can honestly say the worst I can ever remember anywhere.

To name them: Scotia Bar, Victoria Bar, Three Judges,

We also went in Clockwork but had a smoker with us so elected to sit in the smoking area, so I can't complain about that one.

My throat hasn't recovered yet.

You should have been in Inverness, as I was. Just about every pub has a "Vote for the Publican Party" poster in the window. The party claims that a survey showed that 82% (that is not a typo) of Scots want to smoke in pubs, and that anti-smoking legislation should be stopped.

I found a single pub (well outside the city) which has a no-smoking policy, and that's only in the room they use as a restaurant, and only before 2130hrs!

Now you know why the Scots have one fo the worst cancer records in Europe.

'Over the past 50 years, 682,000 people ? more than the current populations of Edinburgh and Aberdeen combined* ? have been killed by tobacco in Scotland.'

we were in Glasgow a few weeks back, & luckily enough the first pub we tried was the Phoenix, just off George Square - completely no smoking pub!

enjoyed a few pints of Caledonian 80, before heading back to the airport, clothes still smelling fresh!
