Anybody have their favourite shop to buy bottles of English Ale in (or near) Calais?
Most places in Calais sells Setta Artois (YUCK) and other largers very cheap, but a retailer with a good range of bottled ales is hard to find.
The best I have found is Tesco's in "Cite Europe" but they dont have the full range that they have in say Tesco Pitsea in Essex. Where could I go in Calais to get Fullers ESB, 1845, London Pride, Speckled Hen, Wychwood,Courage Directors etc etc etc ?

Leaving aside that not one of those apart from 1845 is bottle conditioned, why not go for the local bieres de garde, which though not bottle conditioned are genuine ales, and also excellent and dirt cheap by our standards.
The most widely available is Jenlain, which last time I was in France (a couple of years ago) sold at the equivalent of as low as 80p for a 75 cl bottle (give or take exchange rate variations). A snip at around 6.5% ABV, and widely available in hypermarkets. (The larger the hypermarket, the cheaper it tends to be - something sadly not found on this side of the channel.)
As for Stella, I agree that this is YUCK, but that is just Belgian Eurofizz. There is a good variety of ridiculously cheap French (as opposed to Belgian) strong ales, typically also around 6.5% ABV. Avoid Kronenbourg 1664 though - which was never much good, and was reduced from 6.5% to 5.9% a couple of years ago - although still much stronger than the ersatz stuff they sell over here!
Good bottle conditioned Belgian ales are also widely available in hypermarkets, although the choice is not usually wonderful, and they are often not all that much cheaper than here.
