Hi
I'm looking to take an oldish relative out for a birthday meal near Rugby - can anyone recommend a nice old fashioned pub that does good beer and will serve a decent steak or similar?

Either the Friendly Inn at Frankton, or the Old Smithy at Church Lawford should do the trick.

I haven't been in the Friendly Inn since it changed hands. I'll have to pop down there.
Don't like the Old Smithy nowadays, but I find unless you are prepared to drive quite far out of town for a lot people to Long Itchington (well recommend The Duck on the Pond or The Harvester - not one of the chain - or Napton/Stockton then it is difficult to get a place that does good food and beer
