Is Regensburg, to the NE of Munich, a good venue for the beer tourist?
I see Thurn und Taxis brewery is there. Also several good pubs mentioned on the web.

There's one of the Johannes Albrecht chain in Regensburg. I visited on
9th May last, comments in my 'memoirs' were "Not bad in a wood and copper in the middle of a modern shopping precinct sort of way. Tried the light unfiltered pils which was excellent if expensive at EUR2.50/0.4l and the Maibock (EUR1.50/0.2l) which was too caramel-y for my taste but in good shape".So there you are. Maybe not one I'd go miles out of my way for, but I'd certainly go again if in the town.

Thanks, You seem well informed on Bavarian breweries... I'll be visiting Munich, Regensburg, N'berg this summer. Any chance of my finding Weihenstephan on tap in these places? Or so I have to head to the brewery at Freising?
Thanks Bruce
I've been there a few times, and will likely be in Franconia again later this year if things work out.
A chance, yes, but I don't have any specific memory of a restaurant or pub in either of these cities where you'll find Weihenstephan.
This isn't such a bad thing; S-Bahn from Munich to Freising, then a bit of a hike to the Weihenstephan Bierstube. Makes for a nice day out. IIRC, there's another brewpub in Freising as well.
