The Grove in Huddersfield has just been awarded Huddersfield and District CAMRA's pub of the season award.
This is a remarkable testament to Ian Hayes, who bought the derelict pub (previously a keg/lager grothole) and only opened it in June this year. He's even installed a small brewplant which should be operational in the foreseeable future. With the assistance of Alex Travis, formerly of the Fox and Goose in Hebden Bridge, he's turned the pub into a real ale paradise (fitting in well with the other real ale pubs on the Huddersfield scene)
For those who live nearby, there's a presentation on Monday 27th Nov. For those who don't, it's worth a visit at some point. Taylors Landlord at £2.00 is a bargain (as are the other 7 real ales) and the website, whilst basic, is kept up to date.
