Lovers of traditional pubs, real ale and craft cider and perry have a chance to sample all of these in one hectic day later this month.
Members of the West Berkshire branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) are planning a trip to Gloucestershire on Saturday 25th October which will include visits to three classic pubs and two makers of craft cider and perry.
Two self-drive mini-buses will leave the Newbury area at 10 am, picking up en route, and will call at The Old Spot at Dursley, CAMRA's Pub of the Year for 2007. After that there are visits to Minchew's Real Cyder and Perry and Hartland's Cider and Perry, both near Tewkesbury.
The day will finish off with an evening at The Boat Inn at Ashleworth, a classic village pub beside the River Severn, and a stop-off on the way home at The Five Mile House at Duntisbourne Abbots. Return to Newbury is planned for around 11 pm.
