Which is pretty funny, since traditionnaly across Europe, before refrigeration became commonplace, the brewing season used to be just the other way round, from October to March, to avoid the summer heat...

No, just a bit north of me, around 40N 88W. Knowing what it's like here I'd put the brewing seasons at mid-March through early June and mid-September through mid to late November. And I'd really be concerned about the racoons; they can be quite persistent.

But out a pan of bugsquezer for slugs and racoons...

I don't brew in the hot weather, don't like the heat without sharing the room with tubs of boiling wort. I agree on your season, mine usually ends with a double batch of Mother's Day Ale. I have a deep cellar which keep 55F all year, but no good place for very cold ferment.
