What has happened to Fuller's London Pride

I'm out of the UK for 5 months, return near the end of October 2004 only to find that the beer has a much less interesting flavour. I thought it was a one-off so I tried it from a bottle and from a different outlet and it was the same as the first one I had.

I don't know if Fuller's have tweaked Pride, but there's a piece in Nov's CAMRA newspaper, What's Brewing about how they've made some slight changes to ESB.

I don't live in London or SE England anymore so don't see Fuller's beers in Fuller's pubs at the moment, but my guess would be you had a mediocre pint (of cask?) thru poor cellaring, or a pint that's been sitting in the lines a while, or from near the end of the cask (both can make a big difference), rather than any major changes at the brewery. That's just my hunch; you might get a fuller (no pun meant) answer over on . cheers MikeMcG (anagram - "I'm MC Keg" - possibly my new rap name?)

I tried it from a bottle as well and it was consistent with the first pint I had. I can recognise some elements of the taste but the beer seems to have lost some of its viscosity and maltiness (that bordered on honey-flavoured). I am guessing that this maltiness was the result of the yeast leaving some of the long-chained sugars in place so I am guessing the yeast has changed or has ended up with another strain of yeast mixed in with it.
