Does anyone know where I can liberate some empty kegs from in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria ?

Do you mean, what pubs leave their empty kegs lying around after dark? If so, I'm not sure, cos I'm not from Melbourne. But they make great barbecuing stools. Just buy a new washing machine and stick the foam from inside the machine straight into the top of the keg. Add some beer related material purchased from Spotlight to finish it off.
