Ale yeast in lager recipe

Has anyone used an ale yeast like Wyeast German Ale, in a lager recipe, instead of the lager yeast? If so how does it differ?

It differs quite a bit, but still makes a good beer. Fermentation temp is the key. If you can use WY1007 at 55F, you can make a very good, pretty lagerlike ale. Of course, if you can get to that temp, you can do a lager, too! I've made credible pseudo Ofests with 1007 at 58-60F. Much warmer than that and you'll be way out of lager taste territory.
