Grolsch bottles, what is the largest?

Fisher d'Alsace Amber comes in a 22oz variety (brown glass). This is a french malt liquor ... not really an exceptional beverage in any way, but a great source for flip top bottles larger than 16oz. And if you're gonna pay ~$2/bottle for an empty 16oz, why not spend ~$3.50 for a full 22oz?

They also make a Bitter (22oz, green glass), but it is a thoroughly mediocre brew at best.

I have used the Amber bottles in homebrewing without incident on numerous occasions. Just be sure to keep a supply of rubber gaskets to replace any that start to look worn.

When I was stationed in Germany, we would receive a 5 liter Brown glass Grolsch-style stopper bottle at Christmas along with the regular crate. It looked like a large flagon with a pewter handle. I can't recall the price, but I do recall asking our local bierstuebe to deliver a case of four to the house (we had the usual weekly delivery of 1 liter bottles). It was a Berliner Schueltheise brand beer. I had those bottles for years until they finally were broken by some moving company.

Cheers,

Dave
