Latest order from SpecialTeas

These arrived yesterday.

Half-ounce samples of:

Temi FTGFOP-1 Sikkim (No. 341)

House Blend FTGFOP Darjeeling (No. 140)

Soom FTGFOP-1 In-Between Darjeeling (No. 130)

Namring FTGFOP-1 Upper Estate First Flush Darjeeling (No. 108)

Makaibari FTGFOP-1S First Flush Darjeeling (No. 106) (The one they couldn't get for me in my last order.)

Plus a half pound of the Decaf Darjeeling (No. 881). I told y'all I liked this stuff. Caffeine after noon affects my sleep patterns, so the decaf Darjeeling gets a lot of play.

Oh, and they threw in a sample of Chun Mee China Green (No. 522). If they keep treating me like this, I'm going to keep buying from them.

Check that.

I tried the Chun Mee today.

Eeeyugh.

Smelled like stale tobacco, tasted like boiled dust bunnies.

Probably not their fault for trying to let me branch out, but it's going to make me leery of green teas for a long while.

I think Specialteas has been having some problems with freshness. My last order was really underwhelming in terms of the green tea quality. Lots of crumbly leaf particles and a stale taste in all of the greens. Unfortunately the price of returning the product is often greater than the replacement value (for international orders anyways). A shame as they used to be one of my favourite retailers. Maybe they'll turn it around.

That sounds like some OLD chun mee!
