Lagavulin?

Hello I'm new to the newsgroup. I was wondering if anyone has had a drink of this scotch.

If so, do you recommend it? I've heard it's rather smokey in flavor.

If you have tried it, what was the age?

Thanks for any and all information.

Cheers!

Lagavulin 16, 43% abv. Had it last night with my Belated Burns' Night Feast. A very nice dram, IMHO.

We had a tasting of seven Islay Scotchs a few weeks ago. Laguavlin 16 picked up first place, just a few votes ahead of Caol Ila 18.

That deep peaty flavor makes Laguavlin my favorite scotch. It is quite smokey and one of the most full bodied Scotchs. Highly recommended.

You can find it a Mission Liquor on-line

for $57.99. This is the best price I could find anywhere. I picked up two bottles.

I've been a fan of Laguvulin 16 since 1991, and have visited the distillery twice in 92 and 95. My friends and I use to refer to this dram as "Poor Man's" Macallans 25 (of course, back then the 25 was around $100 on sale).

Give it a try, you will not be disapointed.
