Laphroaig

Ive been offered 1 .

Laproaig 15 Laproaig 10

Ive never had the 10 but know that the 15 is great. Is the 10 worth trying? Recommendations?

Correction: Its the 10 yr old cask strength.

The Laphroaig 10yo Cask Strength is a great dram - specially since the standard 10, IMHO, has been a bit more bland as of late - but the cask strength is still as it used to be.

I've had the normal 10 and the 15 and the 15 was much better to me. I've only tried one cask strength Scotch and that was MacCallan......I hated it.

I have never had the 10 yr cask strength, but I have had a lot of regular 10 yr and a few of the 15 yr. The 15 yr is much more smooth and mellow than the 10 yr. Still smoke and peat, but also a sort of walnut flavor and very smooth. Since I have never had the cask strength, that is what I would pick.

I picked mine up at an airport - it may have been produced exclusively for that market.

Lew,

I have a bottle of the Laphroaig 10, which I obviously opened and tasted, but on which I have no tasting notes. I'll be doing my first Whisky tastings since my return from 3 months in Thailand, this weekend, and will let you know.
