Met a friend for lunch and he had opened a bottle of 1997 Chateau Palmer to accomany cold grilled beef tenderloin and grilled veggies. We started with a glass of Zardetto Prosecco that was fairly non-discript. Slightly fruit y and fizzy on my first sip but diminishing quickly with each sip ending up flat and flavorless by the time the glass was empty. He had decanted the
1997 Palmer prior to my arrival and I could smell it in the decanter as we sipped the Prosecco. Medium ruby in the glass, a bit faded at the rim. Nos e of currants and cassis with a fair amount of Margaux aromatics..floral. Nice on the palate, medium weight, a tad fruity and berry like but quite ta sty. B+/A-- posted
