Pulled this penultimate bottle of 1997 Far Niente Oakville Cabernet last night and moved it's brother to the orphan bin. The 1997 vintage for Cabernet in Napa was big, ripe, lush, low acid and was predicted to fall apart in time. Not so with this bottle. Still a deep red with little sign of age in the glass. Plummy and ripe on the nose with a bit of leather now behind a red berry aroma. Medium weight with a fair amount of Napa "dust" on the palate. Red currants and plums dominate the palate with well resolved tannins and a soft smooth mouthfeel. "B+"
