1999 Dalla Valle Cabernet

The first sweet corn of the season has begun to spring up at roadside stands this week so I picked up a dozen ears of a bi-color corn called "Precious Gems" to go with Allen Brothers filets on the grill. I opened a bottle of 1999 Dalla Valle Oakville Cabernet. Still fairly young and dark in the glass. Nose of Creme de Cassis, anise and Napa dust. Sweet ripe black fruits on the palate, blackberry, balck currants and blueberry with a bit of wet gravel notes. Still a bit tannic but the tannins are quite ripe and fine. Nice bottle. A solid "A" on the Dale Scale.

Would think Dalla Valle a bit young at 1999. I'm still holding two bottles.

Yes, still quite young but I couldn't resist
