Nosing around in the cellar last night looking for things to clear out I found a few bottles of 2001 Frank Family Reserve Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon that was urchased from the winery many years ago. I had a friend working there at the time and after a nice lunch and tour and many comped bottles I bought a few cases of this and that the struck my fancy at the time. Linda made a simple pot roast and I opened the wine. Dark reddish purple in the glass showing a little pink at the edges but otherwise no signs of age. Peppery, dusty nose with black raspberry notes and cassis. Medium weight on the palate, still plenty of napa dust and black fruits with a bit of earthy minerality on the finish. Solid "B" wine.

New producer to me. Still around? Rutherford is the best dust! :)
It's in the former Kornell Champagne winery aka Larkmead just south of Calistoga between Silverado and 29. Still make a sparkling wine etc. Really not bad juice.
They have been around for a while now and always on our visit list in Napa. We have one guy we have dealt with there for years and really like their wines especially the Rutherford Cab and the single vineyard Zinfandel.
