2004 Bouchard Montrachet GC

We celebrated my wife's birthday last night at our favorite restaurant in C olumbus, The Refectory, and I brought along a bottle of 2004 Bouchard Montr achet GC one of her favorite wines to accompany the fabulous Dover Sole tha t The Refectory serves. The wine was pale gold in color and crystal clear. Very tight on opening (I should have had it decanted) and it took better p art of an hour to begin opening up. Eventually the nose perked up showing h igh toned citrus, a bit of floral notes and some hazelnut. The nose and pa late changed with virtually every sip with citrus, honey, flowers, butter a nd spices coming and going weaving in and out. Lovely. Really fine exampl e of what Chardonnay can be.
