It's not often that you can buy a nice red burgundy for under $25.00 but I tasted one today at lunch. The 2004 Danjean-Berthoux Givry (a wine that I distribute but hadn't tasted this vintage yet) was served by the glass at a restaurant where I lunched with a friend. The waiter recommended it so we both had a glass then bought a bottle. This is a simple and straight forward burgundy from the Cote Chalonnaise. A bit of fresh red berries on the nose and a palate of sweet fresh cherries with a wisp of oaky vanilla. Mediuim weight with a freshness and roundness that makes it an easy drinker and quite food friendly (my lunch mate had a mushroom bacon burger I opted for the daily risotto which was morel mushroom and pheasant today). Perhaps one of the better QPR's that I've found so far this year. "B minus" on the Dale Scale
**Disclaimer** I distribute this wine in Ohio and Kentucky- posted
