2006 Mollydooker, The Boxer

Can you say big, huge over the top wine? I can't even fathom how sweet the must was to start as this is marked 16% and there is some real sweetness in the fruit and oak bomb that is this wine. Jammy only starts to describe it.

Some folks are going to love the s&* out of this. I was glad to finish mine, but I like wine with finesse and nothing named the Boxer is going to deliver seduction and soft wiles.

Joseph, I cannot imagine what even possessed you to obtain such a wine (maybe it was a gift or someone else opened it for you?) but Mollydooker is widely regarded as one of the poster children for the "more is better" school of winemaking, known to find favor with one Md-based critic. I'd have a hard time coming up with a wine less likely to find favor with your palate. Perhaps the '03 Pavie or a Turley Zin? Maybe not, though.

My sympathies, Mark Lipton

LOL It was a gift and I really knew better than to try it, but it was a slow night for excitement!
