Hi- I stumbled across several bottles of 1994 FX Pichler Gruner Veltliner Von der Terrassen Smaragd for $17US, and thought that it may be something worth considering. I was wondering if anybody might have any tasting notes or general opinions of this wine and if it would be worth getting a few bottles or just one or two to consume shortly. Thanks, jason
Any '94 Pichler notes?

Dale, There seemed to be about five or six bottles left, so I may go out and try one tonight. Pending the outcome of that I can proceed to get the remainder, and yes I will be in NY this summer so I will be in touch with you on the matter. :)

The problem, as always:
1) They are in German. 2) They are not yet to be publisheded since they are part of the "Österreich A la Carte 2004" restaurant guide to be released in september. But they will be online. Just to see what they will be like: Go to
Clicking "WEIN SUCHE" you can search for specific wines; clicking "DIE TOP-WEINE" gives you the top wines. Clicking the producer gives you scores and notes of all his wines tasted (limit is 5 wines per producer); clicking the wine growing area gives you all producers mentioned from this area.
HTH a little,
M. P.S.: I will post ehre when the new edition is online.
: M. Sorry for replying so late, but I just submerged from 7 days of : extensive tasting: 1345 Austrian wines from 283 producers. Among : the very top: Ludwig Hiedler, Alzinger, Hirtzberger, FX Pichler, : Schönberger (white); Kloster am Spitz, Gernot Heinrich, Gesellmann : (red); Kracher, Opitz, Graf Hardegg, Helmut Lang (sweet).
You poor guy. When will I stop feeling sorry for you ;)
Michael, are we going to be privy to these wonderful notes?
