Hello,

I am looking for a goof Marlborough Sauvignon. Can anyone help me out with a good reference?

You really want a goofy wine? Anders

I would try either the 2004 Nobilo Icon Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc or

2004 Whitehaven Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, they are two of my favorites. Paul

Haven't come across any goof SBs from Marlborough.

If you're looking for a great one, hunt down a bottle of Lawson's Dry Hills 04, or Spy Valley 04. Villa Maria also makes a great one.

Some personal favorties that are pretty easy to find; Kim Crawford, Highfield, and Oyster Bay

I'm going to be awfully conventional and offer the opinion that there's nothing quite like Cloudy Bay, but Babich is more readily available, cheaper and very good. Outside of Marlborough, try Te Mata (Hawke's Bay) too for something a bit different.

PS, unlike some SB's, don't be afraid to "age" Cloudy Bay; my son recently picked up a 2001 and a 2002. I was sceptical, but we did a vertical with the 2004, and each was excellent in its own different way.

Try: Isobel. Hunters, Dog Point, Wither Hills & Jackson Estate - all good

Many good suggestions from others. I also like Giesen. Actually I've never met a Marlborough sauvignon that I didn't like.
