Hello; In Sweden, if there is anything absolutely impossible to sell in any ordinary way, you put it out to a Summer Auction. It is well known that otherwise perfectly sane and thoughtful persons, at an auction, willstart to bid on aboslutely anything, such as, an old plough, a teapot missing the lid, or a pig´s ear (hoping to find the matching ear at another auction, no doubt). Well. So what has being sane and thoughtful to do with me, you might ask? Well, nothing much - the operational term here is "auction". I have, apparently, at an auction, aquired a Jeroboam (yes, a three liter bottle) of Château Clos de la Vaulicheres, 2002. I will not repeat the price, although it made my wife say 'hmmm' in no uncertain tone. Question is, when will this drink? Will it drink at all? If it will age, I suppose it will do so rather more sedately than in a normal 75 cl bottle (recently, we bought a magnum of St Veran 1994, which drank very well - notes of ripeness, but freshly fruity and with appetizing acidity nonetheless, and St Veran is not exactly one of the great apellations). So, how long do I keep my investment? When do I drink it?
