Bobby Flay restaurant in Atlantic City Borgata

Went there Monday night expecting big things. One of the most pretentious high-priced wine lists I have seen with very few half-bottle or wines by the glass. The best on the by the glass I found was the 2004 El Nido Jumilla Clio while an excellent wine a terrible value at $25 per glass or about a 300% ($45 retail per bottle) markup. The food, a veal chop was OK but nowhere near the value and every side was ala carte. I guess this is what you get for eating at a casino/hotel restaurant in AC. Several other even more expensive options were available. There was an interesting looking Italian Restaurant named Specchio that I wanted to try instead but they were closed on Monday.

Lawrence, The markups and ala cart menus appear to be the norm at the larger steak house chains. I've found pretty much the same at Morton's, Ruth Chris's, Capital Grill, Sullivan's, etc.

We had a birthday celebration for my daughter and Step-son the other night at Fleming's Steak House in Wayne, PA. We shared a few bottles of 2004 Geyser Peak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (which everyone loved). The wine was $52 a bottle at Fleming's, and sells for $15.59 through the PLCB.

BTW, the food was excellent. My NY Strip might have been the best steak I've ever had.

Unfortunately, another trait they all seem to share is a noisy atmosphere. We were unable to converse with anyone not directly next to or across from ourselves.

Yes, I agree on the noise level. There were 4 of us and I could not hear the person across from me at all (though I must admit my hearing isn't the best anymore) We tried to bring a bottle in but they would not allow it. The food was excellent just way overpriced.

We noticed Fleming's had a small private dining room, unfortunately already reserved the night we were there. Next time we'll make reservations for that in advance.

The only Philly Steakhouse that licked the noise problem was Capital Grill. It was set up as a series of smaller rooms. Not only did it seem more intimate, but it was much quieter.
