Mid Atlantic Grape Season

Apr 24, 2007 3 Replies

The wine growing season in the Mid Atlantic - Central Maryland - has gotten off to a VERY slow start because of a cold spring. My Cabernets and Merlot are just now beginning to break bud. This is about 10 days behind last year. The growing degree days calculations also indicate we are about ten days behind last year at this time. How are the rest of you all (those who grow wine) doing this year? All the "Global Warming" must of gone somewhere else.

Yep Barossa Valley was a month early this year. If you want to get rid of a cold spell with lots of rain we will say YES PLEASE anton

BTW very famous surname you have there any relation to peter lehmann from south australia??

Don't know of any relatives in Australia. I am third generation German and most of the Lehmann family settled in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Illinois.

Who is Peter Lehmann? Is he a winegrower? I think I have heard that name in association with wine growing in Australia.
