Bonnaccorsi

On the topic of California pinot noir, one of the best I tried lately was Bonnacorsi. I didn't see any mention of his untimely death in this group, though, so I thought to mention it. It's a shame.

Yes, it is. I was working in the winery alongside him a few weeks ago. He was playing the latest album by OutKast, which caught my ear. I'd never heard it before, and I thought it was rather interesting. We exchanged a few words on popular music in passing, and each of us went back to working on our wines.

The news of his death really came as a shock to me. I happened to phone the winery the day after he was found dead on the floor of his kitchen. Everyone there (at the winery) was just _stunned_. That happened to be the same day as the Michael Jackson arraignment there in Santa Maria. Nobody at the winery gave a sh__ about the Michael Jackson media circus; Michael Bonaccorsi's passing put all that in perspective.

I didn't really know him except to say hello, but I'd seen him around the winery. His wife often worked right alongside him, getting her hands dirty too. I don't know if she'll continue with winemaking, but I hope she does.
