I receive Clive Coates' The Vine. I find it especially useful for reviews of wines of various ages as well as recent wines. I also receive Decanter.

The books mentioned by others are all good. I have many other books, mostly more specialized, for more detailed information about Burgundy, Bordeaux, Port, etc. These books may not be a good starting point for someone new to wne, but they are very valuable if you have special interests in certain typesof wine.

I actually no longer subscribe to any magazine- I let my WA subscription lapse this fall. I gave up on WS several years ago (though then someone gave me a 1 yr subscription). I've occasionally bought Wine & Spirits or Decanter if I was in Grand Central and had nothing to read on train.

I do own and sometimes consult the 2002 Hugh Johnson pocket (I don't update every year, more every 3-4), Karen McNeil's Wine Bible, Jancis Robinson's Concise Wine Companion, etc. All of which have their strengths and drawbacks. I also have older editions of Parker's Bordeaux, Johnson's wine, etc.
