CdP - who uses all 13 varietals?

Oct 14, 2005 1 Replies

Interesting question came up tonight - What % (approximately) of CdP producers use all 13 permitted varietals? We know Beaucastel does...and we love it! Thank you! Eric

Eric, Very few producers use all 13; in fact, most use less than 10 (Terret Noir and Picardin just aren't huge draws). However, in addition to Beaucastel there is Dom. du Pegau's "Cuvée da Capo" luxury bottling. Ch. Mont-Redon and Dom. du Banneret also make claims to using all 13. There may be a few others done as larks, too, but those are the only ones I'm aware of.
