Chateau Musar 1996

Just opened tonight and wondering what lies in store. the wine is light in color almost a rose but with a little browning, I think my bottle is a bit long in the tooth the fruit is missing as is noticable aroma, but there is a pleasant after taste and some tannin on the finish. Stands to reason all that is left is the end!

So it is on to bottle #2 Chateau Larmande 96 Deep beautiful color ahh yes, but what is this? the funk of wet cardboard! Oh yes, bottle number two is corked beyond redemption for the evening.

Monte Alpha 2001 Chile delivers not as great as I had hoped for but it will do.

The problem with Musar is bottle variation. The same vintage can show as 176 different wines!

Which Montes Alpha? Cab, Syrah, other?

It was the Syrah and after the others I was pretty well unable to realize anyting about it other than that it was in good shape! I am trying the plastic wthing on the Larmande which I was really disappointed by as I had high hopes for it. The Musar was a bit of a curiousity but I would not have expected that much bottle variation. YIKES!
