Chateau Ste Michelle Cab?

I am new to wines and have been trying various cabs that are under $15. After doing some research on the web I decided to try the widely recommended Chateau Ste Michelle 2001 Cab. YUK! Its all Tannin and no fruit, its a very raspy wine IMO. Did I get a bad bottle, or are my tastes just out of wack? I had a bottle of Michael Pozzan that I thought was decent. Also had some Santa Ema reserve cab from Chile at a restaraunt that I though was good.

Never the less they have some pretty nice whites for the price. Cold Spring Riesling is just a delight with oriental food, not as off dry as the Dr Loosen and a tad richer than the regular Riesling.

Their whites are another story entirely. Tried the Eroica?

It was their 1973 and 1974 rieslings that put them on the map.

CSM Gewurztraminer is also quite nice.
