Even better look for excellent whites from his neighbour Mas de Daumas Gassac, of Aimé Guibert, the industrialist who started the whole Languedoc "movement" a few years back. This astute gentleman, in a singular display of greed stirred up some ugly antiamericanism and managed to raise enough of a ruckus to prevent Mondavi grabbing land and a piece of the pie nearby (under the pretext of "ecological concerns"). When Gérard D. expressed interest in doing the same as Mondavi albeit on a smaller scale, Mr. G. allowed the transaction to go through and nobody noticed. To top it all off, the old fox managed to get filmed in Mondavino, pardon, Mondovino, as the nice old no-global vigneron. Sigh... nice wine though, really.

And better still look for the rare Grange des Pères, whose Laurent Vaillé upped the ante and surpassed Guibert with some of the finest reds south of, er, Paris? And even rarer, the whites...

I heard those wines have big noses.

He tried on the Loire first of all, iirc and failed there before trying again in the south of France. A famous jeweller (US jeweler) did the same in Cahors, with similar lack of success at Ch Lagrézette.
