I live 3 blocks off of Downtown St. Helena, but must rely on the quest for the best "value" wine for my everyday dinner beverage. Tonight I was trying a Placido Chianti I picked up at TJ's. 'Longside a quality meat loaf and herb salad with punched up olives, the wine was serving the purpose quite well. That's when a pair of large helicopters began a series of touch-'n-gos as if the police department and the firehouse were the LZ. For 40 minutes the choppers swirled about the valley like a pair of mating hawks. Having the proximity that we do, to Travis AFB, it's not a surprise to see a large aircraft from time to time. But this evening was quite bizarre. Obviously this was an advance party to our illustrious president's visit this weekend. Suddenly, this wine just doesn't cut it.
