tech apology- since I started using Google groups on one computer, I've noticed that I'm getting dropped letters (or gobblygook) on some accented characters. I'll try to avoid the accents when postig from Google from now on.

That is one tough match! I, who try to find a wine for EVERTHING will second DaleW's choices. I'd try a Riesling first, then the GV, but probably the stouts and Porters.

whereas in fact it is viewed correctly when viewing it as an ISO-8859-1 encoding. As most newsreaders allow one to manually choose the character set encoding, it's possible to view your message correctly, but still a PITA. Maybe a note to Google?
