As I can't get into The Frnech Laundy when I am going to be in Napa, has anyone eaten at Le Toque in Rutherford and have any comments good or bad?

its great...in my opinion better than french laundry
I've stayed at Rancho Caymus a number of times and have eaten at La Toque at least a dozen times. The food and service is always top notch. The food might not be as inventive as it is at the French Laundry but the food and wine pairings have always been terrific. Bi!!
Call French Laundry that day you're in Napa, leave them your cell phone number; they just might ring you with a 30-minute notice that a table just opened up.

And, you can always try for lunch. While it is not quite the same experience as dinner, they do end up with more last minute openings, and heck, a wonderful three hour lunch at the Laundry isn't all bad. Last time we did this, it ran from 11:30 AM until everyone else had left and the staff was thinking about the evening prep, 4:00 PM. However, at no time were we rushed, even at the very end. We just had more waitstaff stopping by to talk about the wines we were having. I think I may have been passing out tastings, but can't quite remember... through the fog... at least we didn't have to drive anywhere, only get ready to host a dinner at 7:30 PM!!!!!!! I'll never schedule dinner after lunch at the Laundry.

I haven't been there, but I have a question: Is that the same Le Toque, run by Ken Franks, relocated from Los Angeles?

One and the same and he still has his love of Syrah. The last time I was there he must have had every Syrah made in California on his list and only a couple of Zins.
I'll give that a try thanks.
