One of the great things of this internet thing is that, sometimes, people gets out of the virtual world and meet in the real world.
And that's what happened last wednesday. It all started one year ago when I praised very highly the wines that Pierre Luneau Papin makes in Le Landreau.
Emery went to visit Pierre and he talked about it in the newsgroup. So, when I was coming back to the Loire, I contacted Emery and we arranged a visit to Domaine Bernard Baudry (look for their 2005s!!!!) and then went to have lunch at a comfort food place suggested by Matthieu Baudry.
It is not the first time I meet interesting people through alt.food.news and, hopefully, it will not be the last one.
So, to keep the post in the wine matters: in the restaurant we had a bottle of Philippe Alliet Vielles Vignes 2005 which I thought was inferior to the wines of Bernard Baudry (I really liked Clos Guillot and Croix Boisée 2005) and Emery and I were discussing with Matthieu about the character of Croix Boisée, since I thought it was as feminin as red Chinon can go and he thought it was very masculin. Matthieu, who is a great public relations said that he agreed with both of us ;-)
Best,
Santiago
